Import a kei truck from Japan
Japanese mini trucks straight from the auctions in Japan, 25 years old or older, so they clear the import rule (roughly 2001 and earlier). You see the auction sheet and the full landed price before you bid.
Kei trucks to look at
What a kei truck is
A small Japanese pickup built to the kei class limits: a 660 cc engine (550 cc on the oldest ones), a body about 11 feet long and under 5 feet wide, and a flat bed with drop-down sides. Many have part-time 4WD, a low range and a rear diff lock. They are popular for farms, ranches, hunting land, golf courses and large properties.
How importing works with Unsato
Pick a lot, read the translated auction sheet and the landed price, and set your maximum bid. We bid for you, handle export in Japan, ocean freight, US customs and the title paperwork, then you pick the vehicle up at the port or have it trucked to your door. Details are on How it works and Shipping.
Questions we hear
Vehicles at least 25 years old, counted to the month of manufacture, can be imported without US safety and emissions conversion. In 2026 that means trucks built up to the same month of 2001. Every lot on Unsato is marked when it is eligible.
It depends on the state. Some states title and register them for the road, some limit them to low-speed roads, and some treat them as off-road vehicles only. Check with your state DMV before you buy.
Every auction lot has an inspection sheet with a grade and a body map of dents, scratches and rust. We translate the notes for you. Rust under the bed and cab is the main thing to watch on older trucks.
The landed price on each lot adds the auction price, fees in Japan, ocean freight, US customs and port charges. Import duty depends on how customs classifies the vehicle and is shown separately in the calculator.
